I need a hero...

I'm looking for help with an idea. Specifically, I need a idea for a hero in my upcoming Mutants and Masterminds game.
(If you don't know what that it, its a superhero RPG.)
See, I've been helping out
ziabandito555 out a lot lately, and he's writing a book about furry superheroes. (Okay, so it's kinda several books now whatever.) And while i've been having tons and tons fo fun doing that.... it's made coming up with a human superhero for my M&M game that's interesting very hard.
SO! I'm outsourcing this to the Intertubes. Bring me something interesting!
The setting is 1980's San Fransisco. The only other character in the game so far is The Comrade, an ex-Soviet Scientist who defected to the USA because Russia is no longer looking out for The People. She is crazy mad science at it's best.
The template I'd like to play? A paragon style hero (Think Superman/Wonder Woman). Possibly a star spangled hero even. But I haven't gotten the hook yet to make that Interesting.
Throw me some random ideas here folks. Anything, throw everything at the wall and we'll see what sticks. Though honestly any idea that isn't a Speedster, another inventor, or Multiple man will help. (All are previous characters and repeating is no fun.)

Date: 2009-07-24 04:30 am (UTC)A man granted powers from the inspiration and conviction of the people who went west during the California gold rush. Possibly a miner who found a magic lump of gold, possibly someone who just foudn that he embodied the can do spirit of the people going West.
Strong, a melee combatant, tough as nails and hard to kill. Probably a drunkard.
Good quote possibilities: "Back in my day, well okay back in my day we didn't have computers."
"Kids today!"
Bad things to avoid: Wabbit jokes, and devolving into a bad Yosemite Sam impersonation.

You did outsource this to your friends list.... :P

So why not go for something a bit-off the cuff...
A hero version of Psyche, Demigoddess of Beauty, blessed or cursed with a visage that can grind the soul into loves bitter slavery... Yet equally stirs the ire and bitterness of those who dont find your particular gender all that attractive.
wanna have some campy fun.. make it a drag queen/king

Perhaps in her youth she was wild and angry at what the US had done to her family, but some back story has happened, and now she fights for the US so that nothing like that ever happens again.

Date: 2009-07-24 06:30 am (UTC)Like the White Knight, and a Cowboy roughrider one thing remains constant throughout all time, the world needs saving. You don't let the constants of the time stream or a sudden lapse of understanding complicate things. People are in trouble and you save them, it's that simple.
Unconventional means, fierce devotion on a level no modern person can understand, and a certain air of dignity that no other person of the current age can match.
Naivtivity and method are your coping mechanisms. Your displaced and feel it constantly. Does it stop you from doing your job? No, but it has you awe struck at the simplest of convinces.
Your strength and power is unquestioned. People read and told stories of you long before you arrived. Many have awaited your return, and hold you dear as an idle.
